Gary A. Hensley, BBA, MBA is a 35-year veteran in the fields of accounting, auditing, and federal taxation. His experience includes auditing and taxation with local and national CPA firms, managing his own practice for over a decade, serving as a tax consultant to the Ford Motor Company, working as an auditor for the Michigan Department of Treasury, and as a revenue agent with the Internal Revenue Service (2005-2011). Gary has taught accounting and taxation for several years at community colleges and at Saginaw Valley State University. He taught for many years at Great Lakes Community College rising to the rank of associate professor and was selected as “Teacher of the Year” by the student body during his tenure. He has been a writers’ workshop instructor numerous times on the business side of writing, most notably with the MidWest Writer’s Workshop on the campus of Ball State University in Muncie, IN. Gary has had numerous articles on accounting, management and taxation published over the last 20 years. Publications include the Writer’s Digest, Writer’s Yearbook, Christian Communicator, and Writers Journal. He was a contributing writer in Making Money Freelance Writing (Cincinnati: Writer’s Digest Books, 1997). He is a recipient of the Golden Quill Award from the National Society of Accountants and a two-time recipient of the Most Valuable Staffer award from the American Newspaper Publishers Association.
